071227_nis1.jpg
Whether it’s coping with the credit crunch or the crunch of snow beneath your feet, Nissan has a range of deals to warm the cockles of your heart this winter.

First off is a handy 3 year servicing deal on all Note models for just £299, or if you prefer, a 0% finance deal with a 30% deposit. Both are available to customers for the next three months. The unconventional Note MPV offers the comfort and practicality of a C-segment car matched to the agility and easy driving qualities of a supermini. There are four trim levels: Visia, Acenta, Acenta R and Tekna, plus 88 PS 1.4 litre and 110 PS 1.6 litre petrol engines and an 86 PS 1.5 litre dCi turbo diesel to choose from.

The QASHQAI crossover has been exceeding all sales forecasts since its launch in March – production at the Sunderland plant was increased by 20% in June and by the end of November, 17,554 had found customers in the UK alone. Customers are being attracted to its combination of a strong, distinctive design which sits between a traditional hatchback style and a more robust, elevated SUV shape.

MAMMOTH SPORTS ADVENTURE SPECIALS

Monday, December 17th, 2007

071217_nis1.jpg
Continuing with its Sports Adventure programme for 2008 Nissan will launch two special editions of the Pathfinder and Navara to be known as ‘Mammoth’. The name is inspired from the well known mountain resort located in central California and both vehicles are competitively priced at £27995 (OTR) for the Pathfinder and £16995 (OTR +VAT) for the Navara.

Mammoth is California’s favourite mountain holiday resort so, as you would expect, this special edition Pathfinder has been designed and equipped to handle any family adventures. Peaceful journeys are only obtained if the rear passengers are kept amused, hence the fitment of a roof mounted rear DVD player complete with a 10.2 inch drop down screen and wireless headphones. But not just a standard DVD player, this one can be removed from the docking station and used as a portable unit away from the vehicle.

QASHQAI HITS 100,000

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

071212_nis1.jpgNissan’s compact crossover, the QASHQAI has just hit the landmark of 100,000 customer sales in Europe.

Sales began in March and the 100,000th customer sale was completed during the last week of November.

The UK, Russia and Italy are the QASHQAI’s three largest markets, with sales at the end of November of 17,554, 15,376 and 10,746 units respectively since launch. And demand for QASHQAI in countries such as Austria, Holland, Portugal, Greece, Slovakia and Norway has dramatically exceeded expectations.

Indeed, QASHQAI has exceeded all sales forecasts since its launch in March. To meet demand for the car in Europe, production was increased by 20% in June at the factory in Sunderland, England, where it is manufactured. And, from January, the manufacture of the Japanese version of QASHQAI will be transferred from Sunderland to Nissan’s factory in Kyushu, Japan, liberating extra production capacity for Europe. Sales of Dualis in Japan, as it is badged in that market, have also exceeded expectation, with total sales of over 18,000 since its introduction in May.

PATROL AND NAVARA GET A LONG WAY DOWN

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

071128_nis1.gifOn 17 December Nissan will launch special versions of both the Navara Pickup and Patrol 4×4 to commemorate its successful tie-up with the high-profile ‘Long Way Down’ expedition, currently being shown on Sunday evenings on BBC2. Travelling from John o’Groat’s to Cape Town earlier this year, actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman completed their epic 15,000 mile journey on motor bikes, supported for the entire trip by a crew travelling in two Nissan Patrols.

Following in the footsteps, or bike tracks, of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman means Nissan’s special versions need to look the part with both the Navara and Patrol coming fitted with unique badges, decals and mats. Style is, however, no use without substance so both models have been created to represent real value. The equipment-packed Navara ‘Long Way Down’ is priced at £17,995 (on the road + VAT) and the Patrol ‘Long Way Down’ £25,995 (on the road).

At £17,995 the Navara ‘Long Way Down’ has been loaded with £2,500 worth of equipment as standard, including black leather upholstery with electric and heated front seats, roof rails, chrome door mirrors, electric sunroof, CD autochanger, plus side and curtain airbags. Integrated DVD satellite navigation and premium audio gets added to the ‘Long Way Down Expedition’ priced at £19,995 (OTR + VAT). Automatic transmission can also be added for a further £1100 (+VAT).

The ‘Long Way Down’ Patrol at £25,995 comes with two additional foldaway seats, 17” alloy wheels, leather upholstery, heated and electric front seats, climate control air-conditioning, rear privacy glass, front fog lamps, DVD satellite navigation and cruise control. The Patrol’s go anywhere off-road ability, tested to the max by the ‘Long Way Down’ crew, comes as standard with selectable four-wheel drive, dual ratio gearbox, rear diff-lock and a switch operated detachable rear stabiliser bar. A further £1,400 provides automatic transmission.

Nissan supported the ‘Long Way Down’ adventure through the supply of two specially prepared Patrols for the show’s Producer/Directors Russ Malkin and David Alexanian. Carrying essential equipment, plus a fully-trained medic and two cameramen, the cars followed Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman across some of the roughest terrain in Africa in countries such as Namibia, Sudan, Libya, Rwanda and Ethiopia. The trip started from John o’Groat’s on 12 May and finished in Cape Town in South Africa 15,000 miles in 66 days later.

At a recent ‘Long Way Down’ charity party, Nissan donated the very first special version ‘Long Way Down’ Navara Pickup to be auctioned in front of a celebrity-packed audience. After much frenetic bidding, the Navara sold for a whopping £42,000. The evening’s activities went on to raise over £300,000 for ‘Long Way Down’s’ charities of choice – UNICEF, the Children’s Hospice Association in Scotland (CHAS) and Riders for Health.

DOUBLE HONOURS FOR NISSAN

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

071127_nis1.jpgNissan has picked up two awards from 4×4 and MPV Driver magazine in their 2008 awards, taking the total number of awards won this year to thirteen – lucky for some!

QASHQAI, still in its first year of sales, picked up the Ken Livingstone Award for the best urban 4×4. Commenting on the QASHQAI, Bob Murray, Editor of 4×4 and MPV Driver said: “This award, which reflects more city-friendly 4×4s, could have been designed for the QASHQAI.

“For city driving, it’s ideally sized and easy to see out of and park in tight spots. Most of all these days, perhaps, it’s exceptionally frugal and low on nasty gases. The real star is the 1.5dCi diesel which averages 52mpg and emits just 145g/km. That’s a carbon footprint so small it would hardly register on the streets of London.”

In the Used Double Cab category, the Navara impressed the judges with its sheer size along with its level of standard equipment and available options. Bob Murray said: “The current generation of Navara was the first double-cab to play the SUV card convincingly. Ever since its launch, it has remained at the forefront of the field and second-hand it is now very appealingly priced: no wonder it’s our Used Double Cab of the Year.”

Nissan’s popular crossover, QASHQAI, has picked up no fewer than five awards since going on sale in March this year. Built at Nissan’s award winning plant in Sunderland, over 16,000 QASHQAIs have been sold in the UK so far. Navara too has enjoyed sales success this year, outselling its nearest rival by almost 400 units YTD.
