Building on the success of BMW’s M cars and M Sport models, BMW is launching BMW Performance, a new range of driving-oriented aftermarket accessories. Designed to focus purely on the driving experience, the range of individual retrofit components includes upgrades to the engine, braking system, suspension and alloy wheels, as well as interior and exterior enhancements, all for BMW 1 and 3 Series cars.

Following the announcement of the new BMW M3 Convertible at one extreme of the open-top car spectrum, BMW introduces the most frugal Convertible in the 3 Series range, the 320d. Available in both SE and M Sport guises, the new 320d uses the same 1,995 cc engine from other 320d models in the 3 Series range to offer 177hp and 350Nm of torque.

Triple FIA World Touring Car Champion racing driver Andy Priaulx was in London today to unveil of a set of stamps commemorating his title hat trick. Guernsey Post is issuing the special miniature sheet focussing on Andy’s three world titles with Andy being the only driver to take the three consecutive World Touring Car crowns. This is the second set in Andy’s honour following an issue celebrating his first world championship title.

BMW UK has announced details of the third M3 derivative, the new BMW M3 Convertible. The fourth generation of BMW’s open-topped M3 becomes the first M car to feature a Retractable Hard-Top.
The launch of the new M3 Convertible also represents another first with the introduction of BMW’s new seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) as an option to the standard six-speed manual gearbox. Production of all 3, 5, 6 and 7 Series models from January 2008 will have updated engineering and new electronic technology applied to their ACBDA modules.
This will be in the form of a much higher capacity electromagnetic generator fitted to front doors and an auxillary generator placed in rear doors of 4 door models. The electronics will be enhanced with “white-line” detection technology placed in both front and rear bumper assemblies.

Shortly before the on-sale date of the new BMW 1 Series Coupé on 24 November, BMW designers have given an insight into what an out-and-out motorsport-focussed derivative might look like. The BMW Concept 1 Series tii will take centre stage at the Tokyo Motorshow and uses lightweight materials, optimised aerodynamics and a race-inspired interior to deliver an uncompromising focus on motorsport.
The BMW Concept 1 Series tii is the fifth concept car presented by BMW in 2007. It showcases innovative technologies but also reflects on the traditions of BMW’s compact, lightweight and sporting Coupés. The Concept’s tii badging harks back to the BMW 2002tii from the 1960s and 70s – a car that set the mould for successful and dynamic two-door BMW models of recent times.
Hot on the heels of the arrival of a new M3, BMW UK has announced details of the four-door M3 Saloon. While four generations of M3 have been built, this is only the second time an M3 Saloon has been offered. Thirteen years after the launch of the original M3 Saloon, the new car offers the same levels of scintillating performance as the latest Coupé.
